We live in such hectic times and keep such frantic
paces. Jobs have become more specialized, family
roles more complex, technology more daunting.
It takes a daily effort to sidestep the madness.
But it’s only when I peel off the layers
of unnecessary things that I can see what is important
to me.
I see the values, the relationships,
the activities that mean the most and bring the
greatest joy. Maybe this means that I make simpler
meals or cram fewer things into my agenda. Maybe
it means saying no to more gadgets, no to more
commitments.
Simplifying, and then simplifying
some more, leaves space for what matters. Just
seeing this word every day is a reminder to live
simply.
